Jimmy Dalton's bio
I was born in Lynchburg, Virginia. I’m the youngest of four brothers. I left Virginia in 1987 when I joined the United States Army. I was sent to Alabama for Basic Training and Military Police School. I attended Department of Defense Military Working Dog School in 1988. I spent the next 20 years as a K-9 Trainer/ Supervisor. I have had the opportunity to spend 20 years doing exactly what I wanted to do and that is work with dogs. I’m still serving my country as a Federal Service Civilian at Lackland Air force Base in San Antonio, Texas where I test, select and train dogs for the Department of Defense. I started doing schutzhund helper work in 1992 while I was stationed at Ft Carson, Colorado. I had great teachers such as Gary Patterson and Mark Chaffin. I then spent 6 years stationed in Germany at which time I had the opportunity to do helper work for several clubs everyday. I came back to the United States in 2000 and was stationed at Ft McPherson in Atlanta, Georgia. It was here that I got started with the WDA and have been with them since. I have been doing National level helper work since 2001. I was also one of the first people selected as a teaching Helper for the WDA. I also serve as a member of the helper committee.
